Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.  (Ephesians 3:17B-18)

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.  God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.  And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.  So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.  Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.  If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.  We love each other because he loved us first.  (1 John 4:16-19)

Experiencing God's presence is synonymous with experiencing his love.  We have so much to learn about letting God love us in our actual daily experience of living life.  I think most of us realize that we have hardly scratched the surface of experiencing God's love as fully as we might.  The image of roots and growth are so compelling.

This is the heart of the resolution that is most needed for 2015: that we would grow spiritual roots that go down deep into God's love and that we would experience a full, joyful life that grows up within us so that our lives are so filled with God's love that it overflows to everyone around us - to his glory!

"Father, this is the desire of your heart and your eternal plan for us.  Grant that we experience your love in full measure, Lord, so that our spiritual roots would grow deep and our lives would reflect the growth you desire for us in 2015.  Amen."

Thank you Ken for your time and using your gift of writing "blogging" about God's love for us. I like the daily devotionals and will try to read them every day. You are so right about not realizing God's enormous love for us in our daily lives and routines. I hope to grow spiritually enough to go beyond just "scratching the surface". I start of reading his word, praying, etc, and then I find myself back in "life" not reading his word. It is a daily battle for me to balance it all out. Trying to keep God first in all things, is something I have to practice everyday.
