And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. 1 Corinthians 15:14
And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:17
But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. 1 Corinthians 15:20

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the first (to rise) of all who will rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. Colossians 1:18-20

This letter is from John to the seven churches in the province of Asia. Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne; and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. Revelation 1:4-5

Today we connect the resurrection to our considerations. In our story for this week we saw that Jesus told the young man that his sins were forgiven. We also saw Jesus prove he has authority to forgive sins by healing the paralyzed man. It was stated that the healing of the man and the Saving of the man are integrally connected. It was also stated that all of this happens in view of the promised provision of the cross and not the accomplished provision of the cross. Jesus would not have extended forgiveness to the paralyzed man without his upcoming redemptive work on the cross. The claim of the cross is that the penalty for sin has been paid and forgiveness can be extended. The miracle of healing the paralyzed man proved the authority of Jesus to forgive sins. The miracle of the resurrection proves the authenticity of the work of Christ on the cross.

Grasping the connection between the cross and the resurrection in this way helps us understand the strong statements above from 1 Corinthians 15 concerning the absolute necessity of the resurrection. Our passages above from Colossians and Revelation look back to what was accomplished by Christ and are significant statements about the powerful connection between the cross and the resurrection.

Thank you Heavenly Father that you gave your only begotten Son that we might have eternal life in him. Thank you Jesus that you are a living Savior who died for my sin and were raised from the dead. I was dead in trespasses and sin and now in you, Lord Jesus, I am alive for evermore.

your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with
pics and clips, this site could certainly be one of the very
best in its field. Superb blog!
