God's Christmas Gift - Jesus Christ Our Completion - Wednesday, November 30th

And in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority. Colossians 2:10

Today's thoughts from today's verse:

We have been discovering this week what an amazing gift Jesus Christ really is. Jesus Christ, God’s gift to us, is our “Savior” and “Head.” But he is also our “Completion” as we see in today’s verse. Our verse tells us that Jesus Christ is the head over all rule and authority, but it connects this with these words, "in Him you have been made complete." Why does Paul do this? Here is a suggestion.

We said earlier that we live in a fallen world. Jesus Christ was sent to reverse the fall. While he was here Jesus Christ accomplished everything necessary so that, ultimately, the reversal of the fall will come about for the whole world. Someday, he will rule with authority as head over everything and everyone. The words "you have been made complete" stand in contrast to a world that is incomplete because for now he is doing his work of reversing the fall one person at a time.

One person at a time, Jesus Christ, God's perfect gift to us, is making us whole and complete. His church is a union of people he is making whole and complete. Together they support each other in their surrender to God for doing this work in them as fully and completely as possible. As a watching world sees the evidence of this genuine change in the lives of God’s people both individually collectively, they become receptive to the amazing gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, that we as God’s people can offer them.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, thank you for the work you are doing at making me whole and complete. I am grateful for the support of fellow believers who share the journey with me. The provision of your indwelling presence and the support of fellow believers are great "gifts" and make all the difference. I pray that this great work of reclaiming and restoring people one at a time will be advanced this Christmas Season, like never before. Amen!
