God’s Kingdom Mission – Orchestrating Life Conditions - Monday, April 16th

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years except by my word. 1 Kings 17:1

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

The model prayer Jesus gave His disciples, which we know as the “Lord’s Prayer,” includes the following: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” God is always engaged in His mission of restoring this fallen world so that ultimately it shares a full correspondence with the glories of heaven. This is what the kingdom of God is all about and we see it in today’s passage during the ministry of the prophet Elijah through the withholding of rain. In this week’s Devotionals we will see how the withholding of rain, the subsequent drought, and the absence of provision are all a part of a significant campaign in the overall mission of God. This campaign includes a spectacular showdown between earthly and heavenly forces. The reality that God is on a mission is clearly seen as His power and glory are mightily displayed through Elijah’s showdown with His enemies. May we find the encouragement we need this week to live our lives in full confidence that God is at work accomplishing exactly what we need for our good, the advancement of his kingdom, and his glory. (We will be in 1 Kings 18 if you want to read ahead)

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, I want your kingdom to become more important to me than my personal life and the conditions that effect it. Thank you for the progress I am making. I know you will keep helping me to change. It truly is my prayer, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” More than ever, I am open to you creating whatever conditions best accomplish your purposes and advance your kingdom. I am yours for whatever you want, Lord. May you be glorified in everything and in every way. Amen!
