(Continuation from yesterday)

(In preparation for today’s Devotional, read Joshua 24:2A, 12-13 and then check out the “The Deep Six Study” online. Go to www.capecodchurch.com/watch and click on “Discussion Notes.” Under “Message Highlights,” read highlight # 1)

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

Yesterday it was said that as ones who have been cleansed through the shed blood of Christ, our cleansed hearts have become God’s home. From the inside working out, God in Christ through the Holy Spirit moves in our lives in two ways: (1)“equipping us in every good thing to do His will” and (2)“working in us thatwhich is pleasing in His sight.” Today’s Scripture is a further expression of God working in our lives in these ways.

We are equipped to do God’s will through the gifting of his Spirit. God’s Spirit is the source of all gifting so that he is able to work in us that which is pleasing in his sight. Truly it is God’s work of grace in and through all of us, that makes it possible for us to serve him by living fully for him. Again, we see the preeminence of God’s role in securing the outcome that our lives are lived fully for him for the long haul. And again, it is absolutely essential that we have and maintain the perspective that living fully for God is truly a gift from him.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, I am so thankful that I have been washed clean and that my heart is your home. Help me to keep my eyes on you and the ongoing work of grace you are doing in me through your Spirit. Keep me from getting caught up in myself and the perversely twisted self-orientation that regularly leaves me either defeated or proud. You are my true Lord and Master and my victory is in you. Amen!
